    Blog specific reporting?

    Hello,

    The main reason I signed up for the beta was to determine if the Analytics component could be used effectively for my blog at http://blogs.technet.com/keithcombs.

    Are you planning any reporting that is specific to blogging?  For instance, RSS reporting information.  I can think of other examples, but I thought this would be open ended enough to start some discussion.

    Thanks,

    Keith Combs

    Keith,

    Glad to hear that you are going to try out our package. Nice blog BTW!

    Most of the stock reports (user loyalty, returning visits, page reports, etc.) are useful for blogs. Things like signing up for things or downloading reports or videos can be tracked easily.

    You might want to check out the Silverlight and Analytics session from MIX08. That has some ideas for video. Silverlight and Web Analytics

    Also, I typically set a few more advanced properties in my analytics script on my blog:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/bretgrinslade

    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://analytics.live.com/Analytics/msAnalytics.js">

    </script><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">    msAnalytics.ProfileId = 'XXXX';  //Your ProfileID    msAnalytics.EnableLinkTracking(); //Automatic link tracking instrumentation    msAnalytics.SetView(1, 'flat'); // Set a custom view hierarchy for reports    msAnalytics.TrackPage();

    </script>

    We have heard folks request better RSS tracking… what specifically are you looking? What are the metrics and analysis that you want to do with RSS that tells you something valuable?
