Many of you may remember that Microsoft adCenter served its first ad on MSN France way back in the summer of 2005

Since then our French team have gone from strength to strength and have been a tenacious and driving force in shaping how the platform develops.

With more and more web site owners and advertisers around the world expanding their product offering to include international markets, we wanted to give you an update on Live Search and adCenter in the French search market and give you a few tips on how to expand your campaign on to Live Search and adCenter in France.

    Live Search – French Facts

    · Live Search is the second most popular search engine in France

    · In the last 12 months the number of Live Searchers has increased by 17%

    · There were 48% more queries in May 2008 than in the same month last year

    · April 2008’s query volume figures were more than double those of April 2007

    · Over the same period, the search market as a whole increased by 28%

In France as in the UK – see our post on UK PPC Research - Live Search offers a clear advantage to advertisers over other search engines. Nielsen data show that clicks from Live Search in France are more than twice as likely as those from Google to proceed to a conversion after clicking through to a destination site.

Expanding your adCenter campaigns into France couldn’t be easier! We recommend you set up separate campaigns for your French keywords, or even better ring-fence them in a new account to make reporting and optimisation easier once your ads start delivering.

When setting up your campaigns, make sure you select “French – France” when targeting your ads and keywords. Check out our blog post on ad targeting and our Market & Language Help Section.

Editorially speaking, you have to remember your ads, keywords and landing pages need to be in French. Check out our Help Section for more information on Targeting Your Ads and our Editorial Guidelines.

Also, our adExcellence Site has a great Tutorial on Campaign Targeting as well.
